What will we do?
On the "Imperial Rome" free tour, we’ll take you on a journey to discover the heart of one of the greatest empires of antiquity…
We’ll start at the most iconic site of the Roman Empire: the great Colosseum, originally known as the Flavian Amphitheater. From the outside, we’ll admire it and learn about its history and interesting facts, but we’ll also discuss another symbol of the imperial era: the Arch of Constantine.
Our tour will continue along the Via dei Fori Imperiali, from where we’ll be able to admire the true heart of what was once the capital of the Ancient World. We’ll begin our tour of the forums at the nearly vanished Forum of Peace, then proceed to the Republican Forum, and from there, we’ll move on to those later built by some of the most influential emperors: the Forum of Caesar, the Forum of Nerva, the Forum of Augustus, and finally, the Forum of Trajan.
We will then arrive at the heart of today’s Italian capital: Piazza Venezia. Here we will see another monument on par with the imperial structures, though from a contemporary era: the Altar of the Fatherland.
Finally, we’ll head up to one of the city’s most iconic squares: Piazza del Campidoglio, famous for being the work of the great Michelangelo during the Renaissance and for housing the Capitoline Museums and Rome City Hall.
And what better way to end our free tour of Imperial Rome than with one of the most spectacular panoramic views?
We’ll be waiting for you!
